February 21th 2008 Business Wire BPL Formed Through Acquisition of List Logistics TEWKSBURY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Beacon Group, a supply chain and facility services company, announced today that it has purchased List Logistics & Distribution, a 3rd party logistics and distribution provider. The details of the transaction were not disclosed. With this acquisition, The Beacon Group will take control of all of List’s assets and real estate and has formed a wholly owned subsidiary to be named BPL – Beacon Performance Logistics. BPL is a logistics outsourcing company that offers the marketplace customized solutions related to their business process outsourcing. Unlike a typical logistics provider, BPL’s approach is to treat each client’s needs as specific and tailor the solution around those needs – be it a simple 3rd Party contract to manage fulfillment needs or a complete ‘4PL’ solution based on the client’s given supply chain initiatives and goals. BPL’s commitment to the marketplace will be to create customized solutions that can be quantifiably measured through industry metrics and benchmarks. “The creation of BPL will be a unique and dynamic logistics offering that the industry has never seen,” stated George Yfantopulos, CEO of The Beacon Group in a prepared statement. “The Beacon Group’s depth and experience in the field of supply chain management and logistics affords us the ability to develop a specialized company such as BPL. BPL’s services will range from basic outsourced warehousing contracts to complex ‘4PL’ type arrangements where we can take over a total suite of business processes,” concluded Yfantopulos. Mr. Yfantopulos will remain CEO of The Beacon Group but will take on the day-to-day management of BPL as the company’s President. Peter F. Martin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for The Beacon Group, will assume the role of President of The Beacon Group and oversee all aspects of the business. Included in the acquisition of List Logistics is a 100,000 square foot distribution center in Readville, Massachusetts. This facility, coupled with a new operation in San Luis Potosi, Mexico will provide BPL with a launching point for new customers in two major geographies. “BPL’s strategy is to grow a presence in all major distribution pockets in North America. In addition to the Northeast and Central Mexico, we have immediate plans for locations in the south, southeast and western regions of the U.S.” said George Schindler, former President of List Logistics. “Given the combined financial strength and customer base of both The Beacon Group and List, we are confident that BPL will hit the ground running,” added Schindler.
